During the initial session, you and your therapist will take the first steps in establishing a relationship that will become the foundation of your therapy together. You will begin to share your story, what brought you into the office, and your personal goals for treatment.
You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable during this initial appointment. Your therapist will guide you in this process by asking you questions to gather relevant information that can be used to make treatment goals and, more importantly, to help you feel safe and secure with the therapeutic process and to get to know you.
This is also a time where you can ask any questions you might have about the therapeutic process, confidentiality, office policies, etc.
